Kartra Review & Pricing [2021]

The current review is devoted to a full-fledged sales funnel creator called Kartra. The service is widely used due to a bunch of marketing features and reasonable prices.

I’ll give you comprehensive info about Kartra’s pricing plans, its target audience, weak and strong sides.

In case you’re interested in comparing the platform with similar builders, you’ll find the “Alternative software” section insightful.

Kartra pricing plans

The builder provides users with 4 pricing plans, which they can purchase on a monthly or annual basis. Purchasing annual subscriptions is more profitable because you may save up to 25%.

Now, let’s take a closer look at each of Kartra’s plans and figure out what you could get.

Besides, each type of Kartra’s pricing plan contains the following features:

  • a calendar to manage your customer sessions scheduled using a dashboard;
  • an affiliate program to work with affiliates, control commission rates, promote your products and services;
  • embedded form builder to design custom fields, use tagging, etc.;
  • surveys and quizzes to get more info about how to improve the promotion and presentation of your product or service;
  • third-party integrations through the Zapier service;
  • API access to create applications based on the Kartra platform.

This software has a full-fledged 14-day trial version, but it’s not free of charge: users may purchase it for $1 per day.

Speaking about payment gateways, the services operate with Stripe, Braintree, and Authorize.net services.

Strong and weak sides

What I like

Embedded video hosting capability

Utilizing this service, users don’t need to subscribe to third-party video hosting platforms like Vimeo, YouTube, Dailymotion, etc. Instead of this, they may upload single or multiple videos directly to the platform.

After uploading, users may add the following elements:

  • popping-up calls to action;
  • segmentation tags according to the behavioral patterns;
  • end actions (you can loop the current video, redirect to other video clips, add social sharing buttons, etc.).

Besides, it’s possible to customize colors, shapes of media player’s buttons, choose skins, etc.

The outbound API system

Using the outbound API, you may get notified about all events that are happening in the account. Before you can use this option, it’s necessary to set up triggers. Thus, you’ll get a notification from the system when a certain trigger is activated.

Among such triggers, there can be processing a financial transaction, purchasing a product, filling out a registration form, playing a video, subscribing for a sequence, etc. The whole list of triggers you can find in Kartra’s knowledge base.

What I don’t like

Languages and currencies

This could be important for those who plan to expand the geography of their business. The point is that this service doesn’t support multiple languages and currencies. If your business operates internationally, it’ll be impossible for you to manage value-added tax and localize payments.

Also, all operations undergo additional verification if using cryptocurrency. In this case, there is a risk of throttling or termination of financial operations.

Target audience

Kartra for blogging

In fact, the platform has no blog functionality on the back end. The service has appropriate layouts in its template store, but you’ll need to create a new page for every blog post.

It becomes pretty difficult to manage the blog if you have a lot of articles. Also, it’s not handy for your visitors to navigate through a web resource. Obviously, it’s not the best solution from a marketing point of view.

However, it’s possible to bypass this issue by using third-party blogging integrations using Zapier.

Kartra for coaching

The service can be a solution for coaching. Users are welcome to select from a great number of Kartra’s pre-customized layouts for coaches, where everyone could find the best fitting one for their business.

Besides, you may choose a blank layout and turn it into a 100% personalized template through custom JavaScript and CSS code. Besides, it’s easy to modify the structure of the web page by simply dragging blocks and sections; change fonts and styles; improve your text content for a better SEO ranking, etc.

Using a bunch of marketing tools, it’s possible to add checkout and order forms to any place of the web resource. Also, you may choose triggers, which will activate pop-ups with the promotion of your other lessons, etc.

Kartra for electronic commerce

Since the platform was initially created as a marketing software for small and medium businesses, it has a lot of e-Commerce tools and features. Using the platform, you can sell products by generating and nurturing leads.

Let’s take a closer look at these options.

  1. Lead generation features:
  • Kartra pages to give detailed info about a product, add pricing tables, testimonials, and perform split-run testing, etc.;
  • Kartra forms to create individual deals, give multilevel access to content, use sweepstakes, etc.;
  • Kartra helpdesk to support your customers using a ticket system, live chat, emails.
  1. Leads nurture features:
  • Kartra leads to get statistics about your customers base;
  • Kartra mail for engaging and prompting your leads to buy your products.
  1. Features for selling products:
  • Kartra checkouts to build order forms and let your customers fill them in to purchase a product.

Kartra for online courses

Kartra is a service that allows you to create and promote online courses using a membership builder tool.

It’s necessary to design a sales page for promotional purposes first. You may select among ready-made layouts or design them from scratch (sales pages can be populated with videos, images, various pop-ups, etc.).

Next, you need to add the content. Kartra lets you utilize a bunch of various sections and blocks to group lessons, add chapters. After saving the course, it’s possible to modify the following settings:

  • use automation to engage your visitors;
  • add progress indicators;
  • embed comment box;
  • add a Kartra’s helpdesk;
  • set up different access levels, etc.

In order to get additional options like adding homework, using certificates, building quizzes, you’ll need to use third-party platforms (Coursera, Udemy, Skillshare, etc.).

Alternative software

Kartra vs ActiveCampaign

Both services contain email marketing functionality, which is aimed at small and medium businesses. Along with that, Kartra provides you with an advanced web page builder. ActiveCampaign, in turn, doesn’t offer this option. That is the reason why ActiveCampaign’s users utilize third-party software when building landing pages.

Along with that, ActiveCampaign doesn’t come up with the same powerful analytics and report tools as Kartra does.

Compared to Kartra, ActiveCampaigns doesn’t offer an abandoned cart recovery feature and affiliate management tools.

ActiveCampaign has the following pricing plans:

  • Lite ($15 monthly or $9 per year);
  • Plus ($70 monthly or $49 per year);
  • Professional ($159 monthly or $129 per year);
  • Enterprise ($279 monthly or $229 per year).

Also, ActiveCampaign has a free 14-day trial.

Kartra vs Aweber

Unlike the previous service, Aweber isn’t only an email marketing service but also comes up with an advanced web page creator. The page builder is full-fledged and allows integration with Canva that helps you personalize any template or build the one from scratch.

All Aweber’s templates are mobile-friendly.

Although Aweber is a web-based platform, it also provides users with applications for Android and iOS. The mobile app has the same functionality as a web version does and allows you to:

  • manage email broadcasts;
  • check out email open and click rates;
  • explore statistics about your subscribers, conversion rates, etc.

Aweber has only one paid subscription called “Pro plan”. You can get it on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis. The cost of this plan directly depends on the number of subscribers you have. For example, if you have up to 500 subscribers, you’ll pay $19,99 monthly, $16,33 per 3 months, or $16,15 per year.

You may examine more details about Aweber’s subscriptions on the platform’s pricing page.

Compared to Kartra, Aweber doesn’t imply a trial version. However, this software has a free plan.

Kartra vs Builderall

Kartra and Builderall have a lot of features and tools in common. By means of Builderall, it’s possible to design landing pages, customize email campaigns, utilize split-run testing, create forms, etc. They also share the target audience. However, there are a couple of nuances I’d like to point out.

First of all, Builderall has 2 different web page editors compared to its competitor:

  • Pixel Perfect constructor. Pixel Perfect builder allows you to create 3 different versions of your web pages (for mobile devices, desktops, and tablets);
  • Responsive constructor. This builder is universal and doesn’t require much time to create a website. Along with that, you may face some problems while displaying your web resource on a smartphone or tablet.

And the second nuance is related to email marketing.

Though Builderall can’t offer Behavioral Adapting Marketing as Kartra does, it has an integrated email marketing module called “MailingBoss” that is included in every pricing plan.

Builderall offers the following pricing plans:

  • Marketer ($69,90 monthly);
  • Premium WP ($79,90 monthly);
  • Funnel Club ($79,90 monthly). Keep in mind that the current plan implies the first payment of $199.

Besides, the service provides users with a free 14-day and a 1$ 30-day trial.

Kartra vs ClickFunnels

Like Kartra, ClickFunnels is an all-in-one marketing solution. If we compare web page builders of these services, we’ll see that Kartra’s page editor has more design tools. As for ClickFunnels, the service is aimed at conversions rather than the appearance of your web resource.

Both services permit users to utilize ready-made layouts to build web pages or try to create them from scratch. Kartra offers about 500 templates, while ClickFunnels has about 300.

Speaking about email automation, Kartra’s competitor comes up with the embedded Actionetics platform. This service allows users to integrate sales funnels with social networks, gather data about visitors, and segment their customers.

In turn, Kartra offers a powerful BAM tool that gives you a deep analysis based on the behavior of your visitors. Besides, Kartra’s BAM is available in all pricing plans. Speaking about ClickFunnels, users can get access to Actionetics only after purchasing Platinum or pricier plans.

ClickFunnels offers the following types of subscriptions:

  • Standard ($97 monthly);
  • Platinum ($297 monthly);
  • TwoCommaClubX ($2,497 monthly).

Kartra vs ConvertKit

ConvertKit is a platform that can assist in creating web projects, collecting leads, building single-page websites, and many more.

The biggest difference between the services lies in an inbuilt functionality. For example, ConvertKit doesn’t have native features to manage payments, create coupons, design order bumps, etc. In this case, ConvertKit’s users need to utilize third-party integrations or purchase a subscription on external platforms like Shopify.

If we speak about video hosting and the creation of membership sites, the situation is similar. As a result, Kartra’s users pay for the full-fledged service compared to ConvertKit.

Keep in mind that ConvertKit’s functionality lets you build a one-page website only. Plus, ConvertKit’s template store is not as rich as its competitor has (over 500 layouts).

As for pricing plans, ConvertKit is fairly cheaper:

  • Creator ($29 monthly or $25 per year);
  • Creator Pro ($59 monthly or $50 per year).

Also, the platform’s free version lacks advanced reporting tools, social networks integrations, and automated sales funnels.

Kartra vs GetResponse

Though the functionality of GetResponse and Kartra isn’t very different, there still are a couple of peculiarities I want to point out. First of all, Kartra offers advanced checkout features: upsells, downsells, order bumps.

Description of Kartra’s checkout features.
Description of Kartra’s checkout features. Source: Kartra.

Kartra’s users can create highly convertible sales funnels and single-page websites. Besides, they don’t need to look for third-party integrations to build video pages (users can even set up a set of automated actions depending on how long the video is watched).

If we speak about the automaton campaigns, Kartra has this option in all subscriptions. As for GetResponse, it’s necessary to purchase a “Professional” plan to be able to score your leads, track events, etc.

GetResponse pricing plans:

  • Basic ($13 monthly or $10,66 annually);
  • Plus ($45 monthly or $36,90 annually);
  • Professional ($89 monthly or $72,98 annually);
  • Max (you need to discuss the price with team experts).

Kartra vs GrooveFunnels

As in the case of Kartra, GrooveFunnels’ users don’t need to use external applications: the service has all the necessary tools to build webpages, create sales funnels, collect leads, perform split-run testing, and many more.

Groove Funnels has an extensive knowledge base and video guides. However, I’d not recommend GrooveFunnels for users without any experience in working with marketing platforms. Along with that, some tools may work incorrectly as they’re at the beta testing stage.

Compared to Kartra, GrooveFunnels doesn’t have a one-click integration for fully trackable campaigns.

Speaking about the affiliate program, Kartra has a fixed 40% commission for all affiliates. In turn, GrooveFunnels offers 20% commissions for free affiliates and 40% for paid ones.

Another difference between platforms lies in types of subscriptions. GrooveFunnels provides users with a free lifetime plan. It’s also called “Basic plan”.

Below, you can see what paid subscriptions does GrovveFunnels offer:

  • Silver ($99 monthly);
  • Gold ($99 monthly);
  • Platinum ($299 monthly).

Kartra vs HubSpot

HubSpot is a CRM with powerful marketing functionality that could be integrated with any business. In addition, it also offers a tool for creating and managing blogs: this feature makes it stand out compared to its competitor. In turn, Kartra provides more templates and tools for customizing web pages and sales funnels. Also, Kartra offers better functionality for creating membership sites.

In turn, HubSpot has a mobile application that allows you to get access to marketing (available on iOS only) and sales (available both on Android and iOS) features.

Besides, Kartra doesn’t have a tool for lead validation.

HubSpot’s pricing plans are fairly expensive: it must be the first thing you pay attention to when comparing both builders.

HubSpot pricing plans:

  • Starter ($45 monthly or $540 per year);
  • Professional ($800 monthly or $9,600 per year);
  • Enterprise ($3,200 monthly or $38,400 per year).

As you can see, these prices can be a better fit for large businesses than for small & medium companies, or freelancers.

Kartra vs Kajabi

Both services are full-fledged software for running any type of business from one place. However, Kajabi can’t offer in-built functionality for split-run testing. Also, Kajabi doesn’t allow you to host videos on the platform without using third-party integrations.

In turn, Kartra doesn’t come up with the community and quiz features like Kajabi does.

Also, Kajabi doesn’t support behavioral-based automation that helps optimize the communication with your customers, get information about their interactions, clicks, opens, sales, etc.

Kajabi subscription types:

  • Basic ($119 monthly or $149 annually);
  • Go ($159 monthly or $199 annually);
  • Pro ($319 monthly or $399 annually).

Along with that, Kajabi has a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Kartra vs Infusionsoft

First of all, I want to point out that Infusionsoft is currently called Keap. However, I’ll use the old name so you don’t get confused.

Though both platforms show similar functionality, Infusionsoft lacks a few important tools. On the one hand, both services offer deep analytic tools ((split-run testing, ROI calculation for your campaigns, etc.), functionality for creating web pages, and running sales funnels. In turn, Infusionsoft doesn’t have an embedded shopping cart. That’s why users need to look for third-party add-ons to be able to accept and control customers’ payments.

Also, you’re not able to upload videos directly to the platform. To fix this issue, you need to connect external services like SproutVideo, Wistia, Jetpack, etc.

If we speak about email automation, Kartra doesn’t have limits, while Infusionsoft can provide a maximum of 50,000 emails per month.

Unlike Kartra, Infusionsoft offers an application that can operate on iOs and Android and allows users to work on the go.

The cost of Infusionsoft’s pricing plans depends on the number of contacts you have. Below, I’ve listed the prices for up to 500 contacts:

  • Light ($79);
  • Pro ($159);
  • Max ($199).

To get detailed information, you can go to the pricing page and use an inbuilt calculator.

Read more: Kartra vs Infusionsoft.

Kartra vs Mailchimp

Compared to Kartra, Mailchimp doesn’t provide a help desk that significantly reduces the level of interaction between you and your customers.

Also, Mailchimp can’t boast embedded tools for video hosting, e-commerce, and affiliate management. However, you may bypass some of these limitations by using extensions.

As for member sites, Mailchimp doesn’t have this option as well.

At the same time, Mailchimp has an inbuilt tool for creating webinars, which Kartra doesn’t have. Additionally, Mailchimp doesn’t support behavioral adapting marketing and a scroll/heatmap feature.

Now, let’s take a look at Mailchimp’s pricing plans:

  • Free;
  • Essential ($9,99 monthly);
  • Standard ($14,99 monthly);
  • Premium ($299 monthly).

Kartra vs Ontraport

The functionality of both services is quite the same: you may build landing pages, customize sales funnels, set up email automation, analyze the performance of your campaigns, and many more. While Kartra is more focused on using triggers, creating lists, and tags for the email campaigns, Ontraport pays more attention to the visual part of templates.

Both services have flexible web page editors, which let you change fonts, styles, add media content, etc. At the same time, Ontraport permits you to save layout settings and utilize them for further projects.

The affiliate management is different too: Karta has this option embedded. As for Ontraport, it’s necessary to get access to the WordPress membership to be able to use the affiliate features.

If we speak about membership sites, the situation is the same. Karta has an inbuilt membership website feature, while Ontraport requires you to create a WordPress site before you can start the Ontraport Membership site.

Ontraport pricing plans:

  • Basic ($79 monthly);
  • Plus ($147 monthly);
  • Pro ($297 monthly);
  • Enterprise ($497 monthly).
